What's Bitin'

Disclaimer

Last updated: July 19, 2026

What's Bitin' is an informational planning tool. It shows typical seasonal patterns for saltwater species — not what is biting right now, and not the rules that govern where and what you may fish.

READ BEFORE YOU FISH

You are solely responsible for confirming current regulations, seasons, size and bag limits, and permit requirements with the appropriate state, federal, or territorial authority before fishing or keeping any fish. This app does not track regulations and must not be used to determine what is legal.

1.Not real-time

The app presents historical and typical seasonality — when a species has generally been available and worth targeting in a region. It is not a live report of current catches. Fish do not read calendars; actual conditions vary year to year with weather, water temperature, and bait.

2.Data sources and accuracy

Ratings are drawn from a mix of public fisheries information and established angler knowledge of run timing. Some entries reflect measured recreational catch data; others are editorial estimates. We make no warranty that any rating is accurate, complete, or current, and the information may contain errors or omissions.

3.Map areas are approximate

The shaded regions on the map are rough cartographic approximations drawn to illustrate where a fishery generally lies. They are not jurisdictional boundaries, exclusive economic zone lines, marine protected area limits, or any kind of legal border, and must never be used to decide where you are permitted to fish.

4.Not regulatory, legal, or safety advice

Nothing in this app is legal advice or an official statement of fishing regulations. Regulations change frequently and differ by state, federal zone, and territory. Always verify with the governing authority.

5.Assumption of risk

Fishing — particularly from the surf, rocks, or a boat offshore — carries inherent risks including drowning, injury, and rapidly changing weather and sea conditions. You assume all risk. Check marine forecasts, wear appropriate safety gear, and use your own judgment. Never rely on this app for navigation or safety decisions.

6.Consumption and health

This app does not provide guidance on the safety of eating any fish. Consult your local health department and fish-consumption advisories regarding contaminants, toxins, and species-specific warnings before eating your catch.

7.Conservation

Please fish ethically and sustainably. Follow catch-and-release best practices where appropriate, respect closed seasons and protected species, and help keep these fisheries healthy for the future.

8.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss, injury, fine, citation, or damage of any kind arising from use of, or reliance on, this app or its information. The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
