Short version: the What's Bitin' app does not collect any data about you. No account, no tracking, no analytics, no ads — everything the app does happens on your device. This website is hosted by GoDaddy, whose servers keep standard visitor logs, as explained below.
The app does not gather, transmit, sell, or share personal information about you. There is no sign-in. The app can download our public bait & tackle shop listings from our website, but that is a one-way request for public information — nothing about you is sent, and we receive no data identifying you.
None. What's Bitin' does not ask for, collect, or receive any personal information. Specifically, the app does not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, crash telemetry, or catch logs. When you choose to use location features (see the Location section), your location is used on your device and then discarded — it is never collected, stored, or sent to us.
The app remembers a few preferences so it behaves the way you left it — the region you last viewed and whether you were looking at surf or offshore. This is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage and never leaves your phone. It is not transmitted anywhere, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it.
The seasonal information you see is bundled inside the app when you download it and updated only when you install a new version from the App Store. The one thing the app fetches at runtime is our bait & tackle shop directory — a set of public listing files downloaded from our website so the list stays current. These are ordinary one-way downloads of public information; the app sends nothing about you, and the request creates no record on our side of what you looked at, searched, or tapped. Downloaded listings are cached on your device so they work offline.
What's Bitin' contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Nothing in the app profiles you or follows you across other apps or websites, so there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
This website is hosted by GoDaddy. Like virtually all web hosts, GoDaddy's servers automatically record standard technical information when a page is requested — for example your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, referring links, and the date and time of the visit. This happens at the hosting level to deliver and secure the site; it is not something we set up to profile you, and it is separate from the app, which makes no network connection to us at all.
We do not add our own analytics, advertising, cookies, or tracking pixels to this site. We do not sell or share this hosting-log information, and we access it only if needed to keep the site running or secure. GoDaddy processes this data under its own privacy policy; see GoDaddy's Privacy Policy for details on how your host handles it.
Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children. It is suitable for general audiences.
Location is optional and used only on your device. Two features can use it: "Use My Location," which picks the fishing region nearest you, and "Find shops near me," which measures the distance from you to the shops already in our directory so it can show the closest ones. In both cases the app asks the system for your location a single time, uses it in that moment, and then discards it. Your location is never stored, never transmitted, and never linked to you. Every feature works if you decline location — you can still browse regions and shops by hand.
The core seasonal data works fully offline. The app makes network requests in two cases: to download our public shop listings (described above), and to show Apple Maps tiles on the Map screen, which are served by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms. Neither sends personal information about you to us. We operate no analytics servers and receive no data that identifies you from your use of the app. (Standard website hosting logs are covered separately in the website section above.)
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it. Because the app collects nothing, any change will be about clarity rather than new data practices.
